I'd say first 2 years of BSc are someone who is "new to chemistry". 3-4th years are intermediate, and MSc are advanced level. Further than that, although textbooks can still be very useful, PhD students will often relay only on original research publications as source of information.

The best overall is Houscroft, for all levels, but objectively, the one with the 'most knowledge' is Cotton-Wilkinson Advanced inorg chem. But it won't be the best helping you if you are totally new to studying chemistry!

In reply to <a href="https://chemistryhall.com/best-inorganic-chemistry-textbook/#comment-3278">Roof</a>.

If the publishers have told you that there are no content differences, you can probably trust them. So go ahead and simply get the one that is cheaper for you! Maybe the questions are even more tailor-made for your country examinations.

Regarding physical chemistry books, I am right now reviewing some of them, and working on a similar guide that I will publish next week.
I can't provide any other contact information other than my comments or my email address. I have indeed received and replied to your email. Check your inbox!

Best wishes

Hey Roof,

I am really not aware of the differences between international or specific editions of the books, all I have checked are for the US. However, if they are both in English, I guess that the content is going to be quite similar. But I cannot say for certain.
Regarding your career, I really wish you fulfil your dream of becoming a researcher. It's what I do and I really love it. I'd love to answer any further question you might have. You can either ask them here or simple drop me an email.

Hey, thanks for the comment.

I happen to know that book! I've checked it among all the others that are covered in the review, and I would say is a good enough book. But not enough to be among the top textbooks that I included as the best. I miss a lot of coverage on bonding on metal complexes and organometallics. Also in general I found it a bit difficult or tedious to read.

That said, the copy I have checked was an US version, and I am aware that there is an Indian version as well. I cannot comment in the latter, maybe it's better.
